Instead of trying to visualize what graphic design is (since it is so many things, and I didn’t want to resort to clichés) I opted to use a quote by my favourite designer Saul Bass instead who put it simply and elegantly. My poster came in 11th place to boot, and I even got some sweet prizes!

Personal work for one of my favourite films, inspired by Saul Bass’ aesthetic of singling out a key element from a film and using that as the basis for the film’s poster (like the jagged arm for The Man with the Golden Arm or the body outline for Anatomy of a Murder).

School assignment to create something, in my case a poster, about a designer who inspires us. I picked Saul Bass, whose iconic work in film and identity served as the basis for this poster that showcases of some of his best work.

School assignment to design a poster for the musical. The only restriction was that we could only use Times and Avant Garde for typefaces. The idea to use birds came from the original movie poster where Julie Andrews looks like a mother bird keeping the children under her wings.

School assignment to redesign Volvo’s logotype. I wanted a clean break from their current logotype as it is a bit outdated and unclear (I think most think of it as only the symbol for “male”). As Volvo is world renowned for their safety, I chose a shield to symbolize their focus on safety. I toyed around with more advanced concepts (some that can be seen on the right) but ultimately went for a simple V-shape within the shield.

School assignment to redesign Seven-Eleven’s logotype. I wanted to keep the widely recognizable 7, but also incorporate the 11 into it, as well as update the rather bland colour scheme they currently use. From the left and then clockwise: The main logotype, an alternate logotype (similar to one they have now) and the marquee version.
